NYU Online Orientation

In 2012, New York University issued a mandate that, starting in the Summer/Fall of 2013, all schools must conduct their undergraduate orientation events on the web.  NYU Steinhardt, which has a large and diverse population of incoming students, hired me as a project manager to guide them through the process.  As the project-lead on this, I created and deployed:

  • A complete Online Orientation Portal that included video lessons, quizzes, and a guided experience through all the information incoming students need to register for their first semester.
  • Live video chats with advisors and orientation leaders that were attended by incoming students from around the world.
  • A cross-channel social media campaign that connected incoming students with each other before they arrived on campus and served as a place for questions and information.
