ORLOU-ARTS creates worlds of color and expression allowing for continuous exploration by the viewer.
Originated in the mid 1990’s as a highly visual, theatrical collaboration, it was known simply as ORLOU. La Mama ETC in NYC became its primary home for development and performances. Over time, the company began to focus on more site-specific projects and created work though out NYC, Europe and Canada.
Today, ORLOU-ARTS is based in East Hampton NY and NYC and has been focusing on less theatrical forms of visual expression such as painting, photography, batik and hand dyed fabrics, and concrete castings. The primary studio in East Hampton has allowed for this work to grow in scale and form while maintaining the visual essence of the earlier experiences.
